Sallie Mae Bailey-Bryant-Eberhart

September 4, 1930 — February 17, 2023

Mrs Sallie M Bailey Bryant- Eberhart was born September 4, 1930, in Madison County, Georgia, to the late Phinizy Bailey, Sr., and the late Nellie J. Hailey Bailey, first born of six boys and three girls. She was preceded her in death by her one sister, Ruby N. Bailey; and three brothers, Phinizy Bailey, Jr., Johnny W. Bailey, and Roy L. Bailey. She leaves to mourn: her brothers, Tom W. Bailey, Sid W. Bailey (Laura), and Robert L. Bailey (Charlene); one sister, Emma J. Bailey; one daughter, Gwenedyth Hope Bryant Barnett; grandson, William Allen Barnett, Jr., and Sharon; great-grandson, Allen Jordan Barnett; great-great-great-grandson, Ahmir Javier Barnett, and a host of nephews and nieces, many friends, and other relatives. Sallie joined Tabots Chapel CME church at a young age, graduated from Union Baptist Inst. in 1949, finished nursing school in 1951, and worked as a nurse at Saint Mary's Hospital in Athens, GA. She married the late Eugene Bryant and one child was born, Gwenedyth Hope Bryant (coo-Baby). She later moved to Chicago, IL, and married Early Eberhart, who also preceded her in death. She joined and was a very active member of Neighborhood United Methodist Church.

Sallie worked as a nurse at Saint Mary's of Nazarene for many years and at Hines Hospital where she retired. Sallie moved into a senior residence then later moved back to Georgia to stay with her daughter. As her health declined, she entered Athens Heritage Care Home where she passed.
