Mother Alberta Lee Gantt-Johnson

December 14, 1931 — April 6, 2023

Albert Lee Gantt Johnson, daughter of the late Henry “Pete” and Gertis Carithers Gantt was born on December 14, 1931 in Comer, Georgia. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Holly Creek Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member. At Holly Creek, she served faithfully in various capacities. Ms. Alberta worked numerous jobs throughout Madison and Clarke County. She was an active member in the community where she was well known for her cooking. Her life was beautiful as the flowers that she loved, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life, Thursday, April 6, 2023 surrounded by family. Her sons Donald Gantt and Manvee Johnson, sister, Yvonne Berry, and brothers, Calvin Gantt and Forrest Gantt, preceded her in death. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Ronald (Janie) Gantt of Athens, GA, Henrietta Gantt Browne of Comer, GA, Walton Gantt of Athens, GA, Dorothy (Larry) Sorrells of Hull, GA, Wayne (Callie) Gantt of Colbert, GA, Jack Gantt of Comer, GA, and Sharon (Reginald) Burton of Elberton, GA; grandson raised in home: Telvaes Harper of Comer, GA;  siblings: Bennie Gantt of Comer, GA, Betty Pittman of Athens, GA, Henry Gantt of Winder, GA, Frankie (James) Echols of Rutledge, GA, Beverly Harris of Atlanta, GA and Kathryn (Bobby) Willingham of Comer, GA; 24 grandchildren;  41 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
