Mary Smith Sorrells

Mother Mary Sorrells was born to the late Henry Smith and Mary Lou Smith on September 15, 1947 in Athens, Georgia. She departed this earthy life on February 10, 2023. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Clarence Sorrells, Jr.; three brothers, James Henry Smith, Willie Roger Smith, and Bobby Louis Smith; and one sister, Moena Smith Haley. She gave her life to Christ at an early age at Good Hope Baptist Church. She retired from The University of Georgia after several years of services. She leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Mary Lou Smith of Lithonia, GA; four children, Kessa Sorrells Hitchcock and Clarence Sorrells III, both of Hull, GA, and Tony (Tabia) Sorrells and Lisa (Kenneth) Sorrells Shields, both of Athens, GA; one sister, Lula Mae Huff of Bogart, GA; seven grandchildren, Latoiya Sorrells, Bianca Hitchcock, Brianna Hitchcock, Tevin Shields, Desmond Sorrells, Trayvon Shields, and special granddaughter, Jalesha Shields; five great- grandchildren, Jasiah Wymbs, Germani Sorrells, Jayceon Sorrells, Londyn Shields, and Brooklyn Shields; two aunts, Odessa Foster and Annas Mathis; and a host of nieces and nephews, in-laws, other relatives, family and friends, and a special friend Stephanie Barnett
