Life Reflections

Mr. Daniel Joseph Peek was born on December 7, 1945 in Athens, Georgia to the late George Henry and Hattie Laura Peek.

Mr. Peek completed his early education at Athens High and Industrial School and joined the United States Army in 1968, where he fought in the Vietnam War. After returning home from his military duties, he decided to further his education at Albany State College where he earned his degree in Business Administration. While attending an HBCU, his interest to be a part of an organization with purpose and prestige, he pledged Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc. and became a dedicated member.

After graduating college, he followed in the footsteps of his father as a master builder and started a construction business. In his personal time, he enjoyed crafting and fixing things in his home shop. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling, architectural drawing as well as sharing stories and laughs with everyone he met.

Mr. Peek is preceded in death by five sisters, Dorothy Williams, Alice Blount, Juanita Bell, Hattie Cruz and Jeanettie Dyson, and two brothers, Ernest Peek and George Peek.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Shirley Holmes-Peek of Kingsland, GA; daughters, Alfreda ‘Freda’ Peek of Atlanta, GA, Antionette ‘Toni’ Peek-Coleman of Atlanta, GA, Deidre ‘DeeDee’ Young of Houston, TX, and Memunatu ‘Nadia’ Deen of Elkridge, MD, a step-daughter, Tiffany Holzendorf of Kingsland, GA; three grandchildren, Christopher Nations of Houston, TX, Kaoh Wallace of Elkridge, MD, Khasir Cherry of Elkridge, MD, and a bonus grandson; Jake McDowell of Kingsland, GA; three sisters, Joan Anderson-Randolph of Hempstead, NY, Linda Edwards (Homer), of Athens, GA, and Nancy Staplar of Neptune, NJ; four brothers, James Peek of Athens, GA, Elder Carter Peek (Barbara) of Atlanta, GA, and Clyde Peek of Athens, GA; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends all who called him “Danny
