Anthony Wade Rittenberry, affectionately known as "Amp," was born on November 19, 1954, in Athens, Georgia, to Frank and the late Ernestine T. Rittenberry. Anthony graduated from Clarke Central High School in 1973 and, shortly after, joined the U.S. Navy where he would serve a total of four years, from 1974 to 1978. Following his time in the Navy, Anthony attended cosmetology school at Athens Tech. Upon completion, he became a young entrepreneur briey opening his own beauty salon in Monroe, Georgia. Throughout the years that followed, Anthony kept a strong work ethic and wore many occupational hats. He was a long-time employee of McLane Southeast. Subsequently, Anthony obtained his commercial driver's license and drove trucks for several companies. Aer driving for many years, he decided to pursue a former passion for detailing cars that led him to Aikens Ford, his final place of employment until retiring. Anthony was brought up with strong roots in the church and joined Springeld Baptist Church at an early age. However, as an adult he fully committed himself as a faithful servant of God and began serving in the church. He devoted his time between serving on the kitchen committee alongside his wife and managing the media booth until his health began to decline. On Saturday, June 25, 2022, Anthony passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ernestine, and his brother, Wesley Rittenberry. Anthony leaves behind: his devoted wife, Dianne Rittenberry; three daughters, Joycelyn (Tamichael) Darden, Morgan Johnson, and Tammy Stone (Javarus); two sons, Lorenzo Wise, Jr., and Teyarko (Alyssa) Wise; two grandchildren, Preston and Ashton Darden; father, Frank Rittenberry; five brothers, Curtis (Patricia), Leslie (Angela), Edgar (Lori) , Karl (Constance), and Timothy (Makeda) Rittenberry; one brother from another mother, his lifelong best friend, Kenneth Little; two sisters, Ella (Robert) Clarke and Angela (Wayne) Shields; mother in-law, Christine (Ruben) Smith; other in-laws, Kathy (Frank) Wymbs, Teresa (Bobby) Brightwell, Sandra (Robert)Bolton, Ricky Smith, Angel Bolton, and Jarita (Lamar) Smith and a host of nieces and nephew Public viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30,2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Gardenview Funeral Chapel.
